Haley Friesch

Haley (she/her/hers) is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (CA AMFT #141660) currently working towards requirements for licensure in California under supervision of Dina Greenwald LMFT, LPCC (CA LMFT #84914/LPCC #731 ). Haley graduated with her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Bowdoin College and went on to pursue her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Marriage and Family Therapy at University of San Francisco.

Haley became interested in becoming a therapist following her younger brother’s journey struggling with dyslexia and the impact it had on his mental health. Prior to working at Practice, Haley worked as a student aide, supporting children diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD.

Prior to joining the PRACTICE team as an AMFT, Haley worked as the Intake Coordinator, connecting clients and families with support from one of our team providers and assisting in co-facilitating our Mighty Minds program. Haley trained at the Youth Service Bureau branch at the YMCA, where she worked with Elementary and Middle School aged students in a school counseling setting. Haley offered individual therapy for children and adolescents, as well as connecting with caregivers to provide additional support. Haley incorporates many evidence-based strategies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness skills, play and art therapy. Haley works with children and teens in managing challenges relating to anxiety, mood, emotional regulation, and attachment wounds. Haley also aims to develop rapport and build a safe and trusting environment for the client to express their emotions, using humor and an emphasis on utilizing the client’s strengths in order to help clients build healthy and lasting coping mechanisms.

Haley lives in San Francisco and enjoys weightlifting, baking, walking in Golden Gate Park, and tapping into her creative side with writing and painting.
