Alana Wolens, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Alana (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#117908). Alana received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Criminal Justice from George Washington University and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Alana has also obtained a Pupil Personnel Service Credential, allowing her to work as a social worker in schools.
Before joining Practice San Francisco, Alana worked in community mental health, serving children and families impacted by early childhood trauma. Working through a trauma-informed lens and with a strengths-based perspective, Alana is particularly adept at meeting clients and their caregivers where they are in their therapeutic journeys. Alana is committed to helping her clients feel empowered and confident. Alana prides herself on bringing creativity, empathy, and radical acceptance to each session.
In addition to offering individual therapy to young children and teenagers, Alana supports caregivers as they navigate the trials and tribulations of parenthood. Alana will also be leading social skills group programming at Practice San Francisco.
Alana is trained in various evidence-based interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Additionally, Alana has been trained in Wisdom Pathways, a reparative parent coaching model.
Alana lives in Berkeley and can be found cuddling with her son and two cats, trying new restaurants, and exploring hiking trails.
