Ginna Oates, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Director of School-Based Services
Ginna (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 133974) who joined the Practice team in February 2020. Ginna specializes in supporting tweens, teens, and their parents through the complexities of adolescence. With training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices, Ginna is dedicated to addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges. Whether working through anxiety, depression, or the ups and downs of family dynamics, Ginna creates a safe and nurturing environment where young clients can explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies.
In addition to individual therapy, Ginna offers parent coaching to parents of children of all ages. Her parent coaching is designed to enhance family relationships and communication. By equipping parents with essential skills and insights, Ginna empowers parents in navigating their role with confidence and understanding. This holistic approach not only supports the needs of the child but fosters a strong, connected family unit, creating lasting positive change.
With a compassionate and collaborative style, Ginna is committed to helping young people and their families thrive. By integrating evidence-based techniques with an understanding of developmental psychology, Ginna works to promote emotional well-being and relational harmony, ensuring that individuals feel heard, valued, and supported throughout their journey.
Ginna received her Masterโs in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. Before returning to school to become a therapist, Ginna was a teacher at Stuart Hall for Boys in San Francisco and Graland Country Day School in Denver, CO. She taught kindergarten and second grade and coached middle school lacrosse.
Prior to joining the Practice team, Ginna worked as an individual and group therapist at McAuley, an outpatient educational and therapeutic program for adolescents at St. Maryโs Medical Center in San Francisco.
Ginna lives in Marin and enjoys spending time outdoors in the beautiful Bay Area with her husband, daughter and dog!
