Lauren R. Bangert, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist

Lauren (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist (PA 019404; CA pending) and pediatric neuropsychologist specializing in providing comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of concerns impacting neurocognitive, behavioral, and psychosocial functioning. She has extensive experience and interest in evidence-based diagnostic assessment with children and adolescents. Her areas of expertise are neurodevelopmental disorders, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder, as well as medical conditions, including traumatic and acquired brain injuries.

While her focus is on diagnostic assessment, Lauren values creating a therapeutic relationship with her patients that fosters a positive and collaborative environment throughout the evaluation process. She is especially passionate about helping patients and their caregivers learn more about their unique neurocognitive needs by providing effective and compassionate feedback to families, referring providers, and schools. Lauren also enjoys promoting self-advocacy for patients and supporting families in navigating challenges related to accessing appropriate neuropsychological intervention and school-based accommodations.

Lauren earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, after obtaining her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the UNC School of Medicine. She completed her doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She then finished a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology at the Penn State University Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. She most recently served as an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and as a pediatric neuropsychologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. There, she specialized in providing outpatient evaluations for children with complex medical conditions, autism diagnostic assessments, and inpatient consultation in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Born in Southern California and raised in Central Ohio, Lauren moved to San Francisco from Pittsburgh in January 2024 and is excited to be joining the Practice SF team. In her free time, Lauren enjoys discovering new coffee shops, checking out live music, and soaking in all of the natural beauty the Bay Area has to offer.
