Nina Kaiser, Ph.D.

Founder

Nina Kaiser, Practice San Francisco Therapist

Nina (She/her) is a licensed psychologist (CA PSY 22555) with over 15 years of experience in working with children, teens, and parents. She specializes in evidence-based behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based strategies to help kids, teens, and parents effectively cope with stress, worry, and emotion.  After having her own children, Nina developed a particular interest in supporting parents (especially mothers!) in navigating the challenges of parenthood.

Nina founded PRACTICE San Francisco with the goal of building a community to support all children, teenagers, and parents in learning and applying these research-based strategies as life skills in order to live more peaceful and joyful lives. Nina sees a very limited number of individual therapy clients, runs the PRACTICE Mighty Moms support groups, and provides support and consultation for other PRACTICE clinicians. Nina also is available for public speaking, and regularly provides talks and workshops in community, school, and corporate settings.

Nina obtained both her master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from Purdue University (Indiana) before completing her clinical internship and post-doctoral training from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She remained on at UCSF as a staff psychologist for several years before transitioning to private practice, and continued to hold a volunteer clinical faculty position at UCSF for many years. Nina has received additional training from the Beck Institute, the Yale University Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) Program, Mindful Schools, the Spirit Rock-affiliated Marin Mindfulness Institute, Little Flower Yoga for Kids, Dr. Amy Saltzman/Still Quiet Place, and Next Generation Yoga. After over a decade of living in the city, she now lives in Marin with her husband and two sons.
