Ella Kauffman, APCC
Senior Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
Ella (She/ her/hers) is a Senior Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (CA APCC 14606) working under the supervision of Dina Greenwald, LMFT, LPCC (LMFT #84914, LPCC #731). Ella received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon before going on to complete her Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University.
Ella developed an interest in counseling through her contribution to research studies on stress, mindfulness, and couples relationship dynamics at the Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab at the University of California San Francisco in the summer of 2020. Through her research involvement, she gained exposure to mindfulness techniques and worked with women dealing with depression and anxiety.
Ella has counseling experience in a private practice setting, working with female clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, and disordered eating using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Ella believes that the trust and rapport developed in the therapeutic relationship are the foundation of effective therapy. She aims to be an authentic, engaged, and emotionally aware therapist, utilizing an eclectic and evidence-based therapeutic approach tailored to each client’s needs and goals. Together with the client she aims to work collaboratively to increase distress tolerance and coping skills and to create lasting change. At Practice, Ella works with a diverse caseload of children, tweens, teens, and adults in both San Francisco and Mill Valley and co-leads our Mighty Minds program for children in grades K to 5 at our Mill Valley location. She has a particular interest in working with tween, teen, and young adult female-identified clients.
Ella lives in San Francisco and enjoys seeking out great coffee shops and reading in her free time.
